Cancel, lapse and grace

On this page

The design rule is simple. Billing may fail, but translated pages must not.

Cancel#

If you cancel, you keep your plan until the end of the period you paid for. After that your plan lapses.

A payment fails#

You keep the full plan for a grace period of 14 days from the first failed payment. After that the plan lapses. The owner approved the 14 days on 2026-10-28 (decision D49).

What a lapsed plan means#

The block on publishing is a policy choice: OPEN.

How long are published files kept?#

Files on the content delivery networks are meant to be kept for 12 months after a lapse. This is a default, not yet decided: OPEN. The retention job that enforces it is not part of the billing module. The files on your own site (the WordPress copy) are yours and stay as they are.

WordPress licences#

The licence for a site goes from Active to Grace for 14 days, and then to Lapsed. A licence also works offline: the plugin keeps working if it cannot reach us. When a licence lapses, translations keep working, new work is blocked, and plugin updates stop. Whether security updates still go to lapsed sites is an option: OPEN. See Licence keys.

Changing plan#

An upgrade starts at once. A downgrade is booked for the end of the paid period. Sites you already activated stay active even if the new plan allows fewer, but new ones are refused.

Coming back#

Subscribe again and you get your licence record and key back, not a new one.

Shopify#

Shopify merchants are billed by Shopify. If you uninstall the app, whether your translations stay in the store is verify.
