Invite teammates
Owners and admins can invite colleagues by email from the Team page in the dashboard.
Send an invitation#
- Open Team. It needs two-factor sign-in. Support staff cannot see it.
- Enter the person's email address and choose a role: viewer, editor, admin or owner. Admins can offer viewer and editor. Only owners can offer admin and owner. The default is editor.
- Send it. The person gets an email with a link.
The page lists pending invitations with the email, role, when it was sent and when it expires. You can revoke one. The page asks you to confirm first.
Rules#
- An invitation is valid for 7 days and works once.
- Inviting the same address again replaces the earlier invitation.
- The person must sign in with a verified account that uses that same email address.
- A person who is already a member cannot be invited again.
- Limits: 30 invitations per person per hour, 3 per invited address per day, and at most 50 pending invitations per site.
Accept an invitation#
- Open the link. The page is
/accept-invitation. - If you are not signed in, choose Sign in to accept. You come back to the page afterwards.
- Check that the page shows your own email address and choose Accept.
If the new team is your first one, you do not need to sign in again.
The link carries the token after a #, so it is not sent to the server in the address. The page removes it from the address bar after reading it. Every failure shows the same message (unknown, expired, used, wrong address), so the page does not reveal which addresses were invited. Five failures in 15 minutes pause further tries.
Reviewers and translators#
The Team page invites people to a role. Inviting someone to translate or review only certain languages is a different function of the review module. It has no page yet: OPEN. See Reviewers and translators.
Not finished#
- Whether the invitation email is sent in the finished product depends on the email module shipping its invitation template: verify.
- A list of current members with role changes and removal may not be on the Team page yet: verify.
