The language switcher is missing or broken
On this page
It hides itself on purpose#
The switcher hides itself when:
- the loader is missing, or has not answered yet,
- fewer than two languages are available.
So a missing switcher usually means the loader is not running, or nothing is published. Start with My page is not translating.
WordPress#
- You have to place it. Use a widget, the block, the shortcode
[resilientlang_switcher]or a menu item. - The plugin shows only the languages from the last synced files. Press Sync now.
Any other site#
- The switcher is a separate script, placed next to the loader. Check that it is loaded, and that the element is on the page.
- A style rule in your theme can hide custom elements. Look at the element in the developer tools.
It shows, but looks wrong#
- Set the colour and shape with the CSS variables listed in The language switcher.
- If the floating switcher sits under another element, raise
--rl-z. - On small screens the floating switcher spans the bottom of the screen. Use the inline placement if that is in the way.
It shows one wrong language name#
Names come from the published files. Publish again after you correct a language.
Links go to the wrong place#
A language entry becomes a link only if its address prefix is a simple path such as /fr. Anything else is turned into a button on purpose.
