Status: Available now

Available now: one line of script. The install guide is still to be checked against Webflow's help pages.

Translate a Webflow site through custom code

Webflow lets you add head code for the whole site. The script loads published translation files and swaps text in the visitor's browser.

Who it is for

  • Webflow builders who need a quick translated version for visitors.
  • Projects where Webflow Localization is not in the budget.
  • Agencies that want a fallback layer on sites that already use Webflow Localization.

Honest limits

  • Script-only translation keeps one URL per page and gives search engines no separate translated pages. Webflow Localization gives real language URLs and is better for search.
  • Our install notes for Webflow have not yet been confirmed against Webflow's own help pages (they could not be fetched when we wrote them). Verify before relying on them.
  • Content loaded client-side from the CMS may appear after the script runs. Test it.

How it works in 3 steps

  1. Translate in the dashboard

We scan your site's text, translate it and you review. Publish.

  2. Paste the script

In Site settings > Custom code > Head code, paste the script, save and publish to your domain. Custom code needs a paid Site plan, and the steps need re-checking against Webflow's help pages.

  3. Visitors choose a language

The script swaps text from static files and remembers the choice. If nothing loads, your original text stays.

Questions

Should I use Webflow Localization instead?

If search traffic in other languages matters, yes: it gives each locale its own URL. The script suits sites that cannot or do not want to use it.

Does it need a paid Webflow plan?

Custom code needs a paid Site plan according to the sources we found, but we could not confirm this on Webflow's help pages. Check Webflow.

What happens if your servers are down?

The files are static and cached, so translations still show. If nothing loads, visitors see your original text.
