Translate a Wix site with one pasted script

Wix lets you add custom code to every page, so no plugin is needed. The script swaps text in the visitor's browser from static translation files.

Who it is for

  • Wix owners who want a quick way to let visitors read the site in their language.
  • Sites where search traffic in other languages is not the main goal.
  • Anyone who wants a fallback layer on top of a site that already has real language pages.

Honest limits

  • This is script-only translation: the page keeps one URL, so search engines get no separate indexable page per language and hreflang has nothing to point at. If organic traffic in other languages matters, use Wix Multilingual, which creates real language URLs.
  • Do not run the script and Wix Multilingual on the same pages.
  • Wix may require a paid plan and a connected domain for custom code, and the script does not run in the editor preview. Check your dashboard.
  • You cannot change Wix's content security policy, so the stricter embed options do not apply. Content that Wix apps load late may need testing.

How it works in 3 steps

  1. Translate in the dashboard

We scan your site's text, translate it, and you review and edit. Then publish.

  2. Paste the script

In Wix, open Settings > Custom Code, add the script from your dashboard to all pages, put it in the head, apply and publish.

  3. Visitors choose a language

The script reads the published files, swaps the text and remembers the choice. If the files cannot be loaded, visitors see your original text.

Questions

Will Google index my translated pages?

Not as separate pages. The script changes text in the browser on the same URL, and crawlers mostly see your source language. For search traffic in other languages use Wix Multilingual or separate pages and add hreflang to them.

Do I need a Wix paid plan?

Wix's custom code feature may need a paid plan and a connected domain. Check your own dashboard before you start.

What happens if your servers are down?

The translation files are static and cached, so visitors keep seeing them. If nothing can be loaded, your original text is shown.

Can it translate Wix checkout?

Do not count on it. Wix controls its checkout pages; test, and use Wix's own settings for them.
